- Size: Typically stays compact, reaching 6 to 12 inches in height and width.
Expert Care Guide
- Light: Needs bright, indirect light. While it loves sun, a few hours of direct morning light is great, but harsh afternoon sun can turn the leaf edges red or brown.
- Watering: The #1 rule is do not overwater. Wait until the soil is bone dry all the way through (usually every 2 weeks) before soaking it. If the leaves feel soft or limp, it's likely getting too much water.
- Soil: Use a cactus or succulent mix to ensure rapid drainage.
- Temperature: Keep it in a warm spot (60°F–85°F). It is a tropical plant and will suffer if exposed to drafts or temperatures below 50°F.
- Maintenance:
- Deadheading: Pinch off the flower stems once they fade to keep the plant looking tidy and encourage future growth.
- Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength once a month during the spring and summer.
Pet Safety: Like all Kalanchoes, this plant is toxic to cats and dogs and should be kept out of their reach.
