  • Appearance: Produces large, semi-double, 3- to 4-inch blooms in a soft shell-pink that fades to a creamy white.
  • Fragrance: Features a lovely, sweet fruity scent often compared to fresh apples.
  • Growth Habit: A exceptionally vigorous climber with long, flexible canes. It is a repeat bloomer, providing a massive flush in late spring followed by scattered blooms throughout the summer and fall.
  • Foliage: Dense, glossy, dark green leaves that provide excellent contrast to the pale flowers. Heirloom Roses

Dimensions

  • Height/Length: Canes typically reach 10 to 15 feet (120–180 inches) but can stretch to 20 feet in ideal conditions.
  • Width (Spread): Spans 6 to 10 feet as it is trained horizontally.

Care Instructions

  • Light: Thrives in full sun, but it is exceptionally shade-tolerant for a rose, capable of blooming with as little as 4–5 hours of sunlight. David Austin Roses
  • Watering: Requires deep, weekly watering at the base. Established plants are relatively drought-tolerant but bloom better with consistent moisture.
  • Soil: Prefers rich, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0.
  • Maintenance:
    • Training: For the most flowers, train the long canes horizontally along a fence or trellis. This encourages "laterals" (side shoots) to grow upward and produce blooms.
    • Pruning: Do not prune for the first 2–3 years. Once established, prune in late winter to remove dead wood and shorten lateral shoots to 2–3 buds. Monrovia
    • Support: Requires a sturdy structure (heavy-duty trellis, pergola, or stone wall) to support the significant weight of mature canes.

Pro-Tip: Beware of its large, hooked thorns; use heavy-duty gauntlet-style gloves when handling this rose.
